Support when life feels hard to carry

Sometimes men reach a point where they are functioning on the outside, but struggling underneath. You may be in a demanding job, supporting others, rebuilding life after addiction. Or simply trying to keep going, while hiding feeling anxious, disconnected, exhausted or unsure where to turn.

Trusted Space Therapy offers counselling for men in Birmingham/Wednesbury, Lichfield and online. I have particular experience supporting men in addiction recovery and adults experiencing stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, grief, work-related stress, relationship difficulties, and life changes.

Counselling gives you time to pause, talk honestly, and work through what is happening without judgement. Although this website speaks mainly to men, I also welcome adults of all genders who feel my approach may be the right fit for them.

Men’s counselling for anyone who is sober or stabilised in recovery, but still feel weighed down by shame, anxiety, guilt, relationship difficulties or the fear of repeating old patterns.

Counselling for teachers, education management, education staff and men working in schools, colleges, universities, charities or community settings who are experiencing stress, burnout, anxiety or depression.

Counselling can also support adults with issues such as grief, low self-esteem, anger, relationship difficulties, life transitions, work-related stress, anxiety and depression.

Counselling that starts with trust

The relationship between you and your counsellor matters. I work in a relational, integrative and humanistic way, which means counselling is shaped around you, while remaining grounded in professional training, ethical practice and current counselling knowledge.

Sessions offer space to explore what has happened, how it is affecting you now, and what might help you move forward with more self-understanding, steadiness and choice.

About Mark Bishop

Mark Bishop BA (Hons), MBACP is a BACP registered counsellor offering men’s counselling in Birmingham/Wednesbury, Lichfield and online.

Before working as a counsellor, I spent 20 years in education, youth and community settings, including statutory, private and charity organisations. This background shapes the way I work, particularly my understanding of responsibility, pressure, relationships and the emotional demands of supporting others.

I also have experience supporting adults recovering from alcohol and drug addiction in specialist recovery services, as well as working with men facing stress, burnout, anxiety, depression and life changes.

My approach is warm, professional and non-judgemental. I work with empathy, honesty and respect, helping clients explore what they are experiencing at a pace that feels manageable.
